NATHAN (JON) BRODSKY
(1917-2006)

Centre Symphony Orchestra is Jon Brodsky's musical legacy to a city that he loved.

Jon Brodsky was born in 1917 into a Russian immigrant family living in Jersey City. He grew up in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and served in the US Navy during World War II. Following war he embarked on what would become a legendary career in real estate in Manhattan.

Jon was a generous supporter of the New York Philharmonic and programs to foster music education. An avid amateur cellist, he was a member of Centre Symphony for over 40 years and served as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for two decades. Jon’s enthusiasm, leadership, and generous support enabled Centre Symphony to grow and thrive, and his passion for serious music-making remains the orchestra’s guiding principle.
